The deep connection I feel with nature and its impermanence draws me to do watercolour, a constant reminder that we are never truly in control.
Most of my work is about capturing the affect nature has on me. From whispers of the clouds to sweet songs of the flowing stream to the perfect harmony of lazy afternoon to the wrath of a thunder storm, I try to impart the emotion on paper. Most often, I work wet on wet, try to retain the light and softly infuse the feeling I wish to convey. Being an avid traveller allows me to bring varied landscapes to life. You would find the pine forests work sitting along with the paddy fields in my portfolio.
‘Look up’ is the recent theme in my work. Observing modern humans always glued to their devices and almost always looking down, I was moved to paint a series of reminders.
A reminder to look up, to admire the abundance and beauty always available to us. A reminder to not take life for granted and find the time to just be.
